The Old Folks at Sg Way Home did not expect such a display of interest that the PJ Challenge 2009 organisers came all the way on 10-06-09 for the first of their road show to promote the Bloggers Karnival. Project Cari was the discussion between the welfare Officer & Dato' Dr Wong Sai Hou who also seek how to apply for NGO grant for the Home that is not directly receiving any financial assistance.

Two days later Dr Wong and entourage continue to promote the Bloggers Karnival this time at the SS3 Multipurpose Hall where there was an Early Celebrations for Fathers Day organised by the SS3 Residents association and the Cancer
Society Selangor and WP

The momentum once started moves on the next day at 10am he was in Kg Chempake to officiate the opening of the JKKKP Office with Mr Loke Moon Hoong as the inaugural chairman, Vest was later handed out by Loke for the VIP to put on.ociations

A Dialogue With the Community was the last promotional event and it was held on 16 June 2009 at Jaya One Live Arts Seminar Room. The Federation of Kwong Siew Associations of Malaysia under the Presidency of Michael Ho JP has contributed in many ways to encourage more Chinese to have a larger family with its 3 + 1 formula and a small incentive of RM2000 for the 4th Child. This is so as the Chinese population jhas fallen from 32% to 26%. There are some 6 million Chinese population in Malaysia

The Dragon Mother Temple or Loong Mu Temple is one of the big projects to get all the Clans together. There are 7 Clans presently.

Google Maps: Jaya Supermarket Still INTACT

Google Maps

Thanks to WolframAlpha search answer engine I have learn how to place a map from Goggle in my post. It is also very educative. If you click the Goggle map on Petaling Jaya and enter the business section, then type Jaya Supermarket Section 14 or Jaya 33 Section 13, the Goggle map will pop up. Next click the satellite image and hi presto Jaya Supermarket with its intact building and roof where the open car was(and that collapsed on 28-05-09)looked so vivid (just tap to enlarge the magnification)

The picture that you see above is slightly blurred as it was taken without a flash at 7.00pm on 28 May, 2009 the day the back portion of the Jaya Supermarket collapsed. This view is taken from Jaya 33: on the right is MacDonald's and on the left the Jaya Supermarket that was scheduled for demolition, when it collapsed.

The directions given from the Rothman's roundabout, along Jalan Semangat to turn into Jalan 14/17 where Jaya Supermarket ( with what is left after its posterior building collapsed some 3 weeks ago)is simple directions whether by walking or by car, written with direction bearings and incorporating the distance in km involved is simply very informative and ONE SHOULD NOT GET LOST!

CAR PARK ENTRANCE
located at the back along Jalan 14/14 was just a memor
y as the 2nd floor( roof top car park and the former Oriental Restaurant) and first floor landed flat on the basement carpark. A portion of the blue hoarding at the back is standing. It is amazing that the staircase from the collapsed roof car park and all other staircase still intact. The reason could be that it was a different structure added on to this iconic landmark that was built in the 70s.

THE VIEW FROM THE TOP
Entry to the Menara was tight that night. The Management Committee were not keen to allow non residents in. Some photographers shouted obscenity to the lady person in charge.
From the 11 Floor the view of ground zero- the first in PJ is not for the faint hearted. The pillars all fallen towards Jalan Semangat direction. There was a square like cavity in the centre.

WHAT HAPPENED?
It was said that the old block was not bonded unlike the new block. Further the concreting was one using stress wire method. Any works on the roof could result in the snapping of the wires?
Well there is a stop work order and let the authorities come up with the causes.
Meanwhile 7 workers perished and the house families along Jalan 14/15 are still satying in the nearby hotels for their safety and awaiting to return home when it is safe.
The police still mannedthe road.

Flowers A Lovely Secret To Share With

The mystic looking Indian Temple that has been there since like time immemorial. Occupying the bent of the main road that leads into the quiescent town of Ringlet. The temple has recently been renovated and restored with paint work and added statues

It is however the building behind the temple is the SECRET that we would like you to get to know.

The wooden double storey house with its zinc roof and a short ladder leads to the abode of the owner, a quiet Chinese man who resides there with his wife and family. He received his agriculture degree from Taiwan and he fell in love with this little hamlet of a town called Ringlet which the normal visitor would bypass en route to Tanah Rata or Brinchang,Cameron Highlands.

He rented the land next to the wooden house and transformed it into a warehouse cum office. For workers he employed Bangladeshis as they are hardworking and industrious. From one car he went ahead and purchased 3 lorries and a special truck fitted with a cold room as his business roared.

I noticed though that all the registration number plates has minimum at least a numerical 8. Perhaps that was his belief of the Cantonese of 'Fatt' meaning prosperity.

He is a smart man with contacts in China and Taiwan and also Europe. Presently the local suppliers can only provide 40% of the quota required for the sales of his flowers nationwide. The balance of the 60% are mostly imported from China.

He is now looking for wholesale distributors in the Klang Valley to reach out to the Malls and supermarkets.

Purple static, pink carnations, yellow chrysanthemum, red roses wrapped in tracing paper comes in many grades, from 1-3 and unless you are in the know and because of its freshness you just cannot tell the difference with the untrained eyes.

The grade 3 flowers are sold for RM15.00 for 3 bunches and on the open market to the tourists, the income is double for what is the wholesale purchase price.

We had a look at his cold room wher all the grade1 flowers are kept and really they are FRESH and so ravishingly attractive.

So the next time you are in Brinchang or Tanah Rata or maybe in the lowlands, do not be surprised that those lovely flowers that you bought for your loved ones may have come from Ringlet, the land where Time has forgotten but not the lovely Blooms!!!

Jim Thompson's trails?

We were at Moonlight Bungalow checking out the possible trail that Jim Thompson would have taken that afternoon of 26th March 1967 and never returned.

Following the latest tip from David a mutal friend, we descended to the pump house and followed the small narrow jungle path that is not only undulating but also tricky as there were creepers and tree roots on the ground that could trip an unknowing person.

I found an old letter box with the faint wordings of ooligh that was thrown away dring the construction of the water tanks on the road leading to Moonlight.

We found an abandoned squatter hut and its path that leads to the EPF bungalow. The trail ended.

I took them up the hill to bypass the steep precipice. Then the familiar pine tree on the top.

Behold we are back on Moonlight!
